Cirrus Concept Consulting Testimonials
My Story
My name is Leslie Kahn. In 1991 I received my LPN after graduating from the Dayton School of Practical Nursing. I worked in a Long-term care facility for 31/2 years. During that time, I was promoted to team leader and then MDS nurse. I attended classes in the evening at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio to complete my pre-requisites. In the fall of 1993, I started school full-time at IVY Tech State College that partnered with Indiana University East and Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. The program was designed for LPN’s to receive their Associate Degree’s in Nursing in two semesters. I graduated with honors and began working as an RN at a local hospital in Dayton, I also worked in pediatric home care, for the state as a Medicaid Case Manager and for the County Children’s Services. I enjoyed providing patient care and working in the community, however, continued to pursue my educational goals and eventually received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management and Marketing from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000. I then decided to try my hand at the business side of health care, my interest had been triggered by my career with the State of Ohio as a case manager.
I obtained a position with a national corporate health care staffing company. I was with them for two years. However, some of the business practices went against my “inner nurse”. I felt that it was very sales-driven, profit oriented and not always ethical. I did not agree with the way that the nurses and other health care professionals were treated. I felt that at times they were misinformed about assignments in order for the agency to send someone. I thought that they were not treated with the respect and professionalism that they deserved and that their education, license and skills were not appreciated at a level that could be understood by the non-health care professionals working in these other staffing agencies. However, I really enjoyed the actual work itself and I had developed relationships with my clients and enjoyed working with the other health care professionals and fellow nurses. I knew there was a niche for an agency that operated on principals instead of profit and that it was not being served in the Dayton area. I left the company and after many stumbling blocks, started my own company. I wanted to run a company more in line with my own personal values and morals. My business practices will be based on honesty and integrity, never putting profit before people. I believe in quality versus quantity. I hope you can try me out and see for yourself. I appreciate every opportunity that I have in working with clients.
Cordially,
Leslie Kahn
